My Philosophy
I believe makeup is not something that makes you more beautiful, but enhances the beauty you have. Comfortability and satisfaction is my goal. I want to use my skill in a way that satisfies your need in every way whether it be for film or an event.
My Inspiration
I started in 2020 with the dream of creating art. What makes film so believable is the makeup and fashion. Taking inspiration from movies I adore such as Nightmare on Elm Street, Saw, and other various horror films, I strive to create new creatures beyond our imagination.

About the artist
Who I am
My name is Mak Hoeksema and I am a makeup artist in the Chicagoland area. I started my makeup journey when I was 12 years old by making prosthetics out of liquid latex and cotton balls. As I grew older, I knew makeup was a passion and the future of my career. I moved to Los Angeles in the spring of 2022 and attended Makeup Designory. I graduated the Masters program where I learned basic beauty, hair styling, special effects, and prosthetic making. I moved back to the Chicagoland area where I am continuing my career.
A lot of my inspiration comes from movies. Nightmare on Elm Street, Creature of the Black Lagoon, and Labyrinth are a few films I reference as impactful movies in my career. They taught me this is the job for me. I enjoy creatures and monsters, but also love doing the beauty in weddings and fashion shows.
